To ensure that the Council provides a regular household waste service to your property please follow this guide and it should ensure we provide you with a trouble free service. For specific information regarding wheeled bins and recycling receptacles, please follow the link below to 'Household waste - domestic bins.'

Where do I leave my wheeled bin to be collected and emptied?

On your day of collection, position your wheeled bin at the edge of your property with the handles facing the road.  This should be no later than 7.00 am, and the bin will be returned to the edge of your property after emptying. For those properties that are on a sack service, please ensure access is available to the sack storage point on the relevant service day. Please do not leave bins on the footpath or grass verge as this may cause an obstruction to pedestrians.

On what day will my collection be made?

Each household receives a booklet detailing the service. Within this booklet is a calendar relevant to collections from your property. If you no longer have the booklet or calendar, please contact a member of staff using the details below to ascertain your collection dates.

Alternatively, you can view your Waste and Recycling Calendar online.

What happens on Bank Holidays - are collections still made?

With the exception of the Christmas and New Year period, collections will be made on Bank Holidays throughout the year. Please consult your Waste and Recycling Calendar for collection details over the Christmas and New Year period.

If my bin lid does not fully close, will my bin still be emptied?

For operators safety when loading, we are unable to empty bins where the lid cannot be completely closed. Also, side waste will not be taken if left adjacent to your grey bin on collection day. If bins are over filled or there is side waste, it will be left inside the bin after emptying.

What happens if my collection is not made on the appropriate date?

If your domestic waste is not collected and is then reported to us before 12:00 noon, we will endeavour to make the collection on that same day. If a missed collection is reported after 12:00 noon, we will endeavour to make the collection on the following working day. A missed collection can be reported via the relevant online form or by contacting a member of staff using the details below.

I am having problems moving my wheeled bin to its collection position. Is help available?
