Service of Remembrance at South Staffordshire Council

 

 

SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE AT

 SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE COUNCIL

 

A Service of Remembrance was held at South Staffordshire Council Offices on Friday, 11th November 2011, officiated by the Chairman’s Chaplain, Reverend Simon Witcombe.  Poppy wreaths were laid under the commemorative plaque which is sited at the front of the Council Offices.

 

A two minutes’ silence was observed at 11.00 a.m. during the service and in the Council Offices.     

 

Deputy Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Colonel Christopher Comport OBE TD DL attended the service, together with Parish Chairmen, District Councillors and Council staff. 

 

Councillor Mrs Sonja Oatley MBE said:

 

“It is important to continue to hold a Service of Remembrance so that on this day we can remember all those who gave their lives in war and in more recent conflicts.”
