Members of the
European Parliament
The district is represented at the European Parliament by
the 7 MEPs (Members of the European Parliament) for the
West Midlands Region.
The last election took place in 2009. Members serve for a 5 year term -
the next election will be in 2014.
As from February 2012 this number was increased to 7 Members, as
the West Midlands Region was allocated another seat due to
increased electorates. Under the method of distribution of
additional seats this extra seat for the Region went to
the Conservative Party.
There are currently:

1 Independent
1 Labour Party MEP; and
1 Liberal-Democrat MEP.
