Springhill CC
is pleased to announce that the club has been successful in their
application for planning permission from South Staffordshire
Council.
The club has received the full backing from
all parties for a new, purpose built pavilion to replace the
temporary facilities that are currently in use. The clubs previous
pavilion was destroyed in an arson attack in 2005.
Designed in a “T” shape, the new structure
will include both home and away dressing rooms either side of a
club room. The development also includes a kitchen, a number of
toilets within the additional space behind the main structure. A
sheltered veranda is also included at the front of the
building.
It has taken a number of years to get to this
stage, following on from other developments which include a number
of ground improvement projects along with establishing a league
cricket side and by adding a second team for the 2012 season.
Development Secretary Daniel Kinsey highlights that “the granting
of planning permission is the latest milestone in our quest to
raise a new cricket pavilion. From here on, we know completion of
the project can be accomplished, and we eagerly look forward to
that”.
However, the development of a permanent
pavilion is seen as the most vital to the club’s long term growth
and stability. Vice-Chairman Kevin Jones highlights “The pavilion
is the heart of any club. It allows players families and spectators
to come and enjoy a good cricket match whilst being safe in the
knowledge that there is sufficient shelter and facilities to allow
them to enjoy the day fully. On completion of this project, the
ground will be able to turn from a facility that is open two days a
week for matches to a venue that is open throughout the week
regardless of weather.”
The clubs development team can now begin the
process of acquiring the funding required. “The project will cost a
considerable sum, and we are confident we can raise much of this
from sporting and community grants, even in this tough economic
climate. However, we hope the club can make a significant
contribution by raising money through its members and their
families, as well as through our local community” discusses Daniel
Kinsey.
In order to achieve this, Springhill CC has
announced the opening of the “Buy a Brick” scheme, with a minimum
donation of £10. “The ‘Buy a Brick’ campaign
has been launched by the club to accomplish this goal, and all
donors will be commemorated on a plaque in the finished building.
This is a very exciting time for us, and we hope to bring this
longstanding challenge to a swift conclusion.”

Having achieved the major hurdle of
securing planning permission, the club has now begun fundraising to
achieve the completion of the project.
We have therefore launched a ‘buy a brick’
campaign, with minimum donations set at £10.00.
All donors through this scheme will have
their names on a plaque in the finished building.
