The Cabinet
South Staffordshire Council's
Cabinet

The Leader of the Council is the political head of the
organisation and is the leading member of the largest political
group. At the moment, the largest political group on the council
are the Conservatives. The Leader of the Council is elected by
councillors every four years. This post is the political head
of the Council.
The Leader then chooses a Deputy Leader and 'Cabinet'. Each
member of the Cabinet is then responsible for different
areas of the council’s work.
The Cabinet usually meets every
month to make decisions and discuss issues affecting the district
and the council. The Cabinet is the part of the council
which is responsible for most day to day decisions. When
major decisions are to be discussed or made by the Cabinet or
individually by a Cabinet member, these are normally published in
the Forward Plan.
Cabinet meetings are usually
open to the public and the press, except when personal or
confidential matters are being discussed.
