Friends of Kinver Open Spaces
The Friends of Kinver Open Spaces group was
formed in March 2009. Since it's inception, the
group has worked closely alongside South Staffordshire
Council, their agreed focus being to improve and enhance the open
spaces within Kinver that are owned by Parish or District
Council.
The focus of much of the work done
to date has primarily been on the
Brockleys Walk Open Space. Currently the Friends are
looking to gauge the opinions and ideas of the local community so
that we can work together to collectively improve the Open
Space.
In the
future, the aim is to further develop the area and we are
considering projects to improve the existing riverside walk.
We plan to work with South Staffordshire to stop the intrusion of
Himalayan Balsam across the site. We hope to add benches,
improve the information board for visitors to the area and would
like to work towards the Green Pennant Award. We also hope to
secure funding / sponsorship to further develop our work.
The Friends are
currently undertaking a survey to find out how folk use the
site, what is thought of it, and what measures could be
taken to improve it in the future. As part of this, a survey
was advertised on this web page. The group are currently
going through the replies that they received and would like to
thank all those who took the time to make their views
known.
