South Staffordshire Council undertakes routine microbiological food sampling in accordance with annual programmes for:-

 

sampling from local businesses

co-ordinated sampling developed in consultation with other local authorities in Staffordshire.

nationally co-ordinated sampling developed by LACORS

 

Where results indicate a potential problem an investigation is undertaken to identify and resolve any food handling issues they could result in harmful contamination.  Food samples and hygiene swabs may also be undertaken as part of investigations into outbreaks of gastrointestinal illness.
