Notification of Cooling Towers
Notification is required, under the Notification of Cooling
Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992, of the location
and number of cooling towers or evaporative condensers positioned
on any site within the District. Once notification has been
received, an acknowledgement will be forwarded and a copy sent to
the appropriate enforcing authority for the purposes of the Health
and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. In the majority of cases,
this will be the Health and Safety Executive who are based at
Stoke-on-Trent.
If you have a cooling tower or evaporative condenser which has
not been notified to the authority, or wish to discuss any
particular requirements relating to the regulations you should
contact one of our health and safety inspectors (see
contact details below).
Erection of additional facilities, or, changing the use of
existing premises may require prior approval under Town and Country
Planning Acts and/or Building Regulations.
