Coach & Official Education & Development Scholarships

 

South Staffordshire Council aims to assist potential and current coaches/ officials working in the District to gain or develop their coaching/officials qualifications.BSE Photo 39
 
Up to date, enthusiastic and motivated coaches/ officials lead the delivery of sport in the district attracting and retaining more players to sport. 
 

Criteria

 
Scholarships are available for up to 50% of the cost of the course (s) applicants wish to attend.
 
  • Applicants may only apply for one scholarship within a 12 month period.
  • Scholarship can cover more than one course.
  • Applicants will be expected to provide free coaching/ officiating hourse through sports development or club coaching initiative in return for a scholarship.
  • Applicants will be expected to be coaching/officiating within the district for up to 12 months after receiving a scholarship.
  • Two referee's forms to confirm the aims and future activity of the applicant are also attached and no scholarships will be awarded without the FULL completion of these forms.
  • They can be returned with the personal application or separately.
  • Courses cannot be funded retrospectively.
  • Applicants will be sent a monitoring and evaluation form 12 months after receiving a scholarship which must be completed and returned to South Staffordshire Sports Council within 1 month of receipt.

Failure to comply with any of the above criteria may result in an unsuccessful application or a request for reimbursement of an awarded scholarship.

 

Eligibility

 

Applicants are eligible for South Staffordshire Sports Council Coach/ Official Education and Development Scholarship if they:

 

  • Currently hold National Governing Body (NGB) recognised Coach/Official qualifications.
  • Currently hold National Governing Body (NGB) recognised Coach/Offical qualifications and wish to develop their career by taking further generic coaching/officiating qualifications.
  • Currently actively involved in sport as a player, umpire, volunteer, club organiser etc but hold no recognised NGB coach/official qualification and would like to develop their career by becoming qualified.
