South Staffordshire Tourism Strategy

The tourism industry within South Staffordshire is a key
contributor to the wealth of the local economy.
The latest Economic Impact Assessment (2007) indicated that
tourism generated a total spend of £81 million with an average of
£7 million spending per month.
The study also highlighted that 1.6 million visitors came
to South Staffordshire, of which 1.5 million were day visitors
and 0.1 million overnight stays.
In terms of employment, the service sector is the biggest sector
within South Staffordshire, offering 75.5% of all jobs.
Welcoming, Developing and
Sustaining is South Staffordshire's draft
tourism strategy which aims to build on this success
and continue to develop, welcome and sustain the
districts tourism industry. It sets out a clear vision for the
future, seeking to benefit all who live, work and visit South
Staffordshire.
The Strategy is the beginning of a new journey, and working in
partnership with residents, businesses, community groups, voluntary
organisations and support organisations we can make South
Staffordshire a thriving hub of tourism.
