Residential Planning

Most people's contact with the Planning system will be when they either make a planning application to extend their own house, or their neighbour makes an application which may affect them.

There is advice on how to make applications and what things to take into account which you can see by following the links to Development Control (see link)

If you are a neighbour then there is a page which explains how the system operates and how to make comments.

If you are going to build, then you will also need approval under Building Regulations and you should follow the link to Building Control (see link).  If you are building near a boundary you should take advice on the possible effect of the Party Wall Act on your development.
