Conservation
South Staffordshire has a rich and varied
architectural heritage, expresssed in its 850 listed buildings and
19 Conservation Areas. The Council recognises the contribution that
they make to the district''s distinctive environment and the
conservation team are available to give sound professional advice
on all matters relating to the historic environment.
This ranges from basic enquiries about the status of buildings
(grading, list descriptions etc), the relevant legislation, through
to technical matters such as maintenance and repairs, and advice on
changes to buildings to ensure that their special architectural and
historic interest is retained.
Advice is also given on design - for alterations to buildings
and/or development in conservation areas, and the team welcomes the
opportunity for early involvement in such proposals, prior to any
formal applications being submitted.
