Planning is a statutory service that deals with the following matters, which come under the Town and Country Planning Act and some other pieces of legislation. The main activities are dealing with:
 
  • Planning applications
  • Planning appeals
  • Investigating reports of development carried without planning permission
  • Ensuring that sites are developed and used in accordance with planning conditions and the approved plans
  • Developing planning policies to include in the Local Plan so that people know how land can be developed in the future
  • Road names for new developments, giving numbers to new properties and renaming of existing properties
  • Enquiries from the public and general advice on planning matters
