NEWS!!! Changes in Benefit legislation that could affect you.

The Government is abolishing Council Tax Benefit from the 1st April 2013, it will be replaced with a local scheme - Council Tax Support

We’re introducing a new Council Tax Support Scheme which will help people pay towards their Council Tax bills, this is a discount scheme not a benefit.

The Government is reducing the amount of Housing Benefit some people can claim from 1st April 2013

The new rules for working age people renting from a registered housing association, will restrict the size of accommodation you can receive Housing Benefit for, based on the number of people in your household.

Limit on Benefits (Benefit Cap) - 15th July 2013

On 15th July 2013 the benefit cap will apply to people aged 16 to 64, also known as

'working age'.

The cap means that households where no one is in work should not get more in benefits than

the average wage paid to people in work. This is after tax and National Insurance has been

taken off.

Local Housing Allowance from 1st April 2013
