Child Benefit changes Nov 09

Housing & Council Tax Benefits:

Don't delay - apply today!

Parents who get child benefit could now get some extra help in the shape of Housing and Council Tax Benefit.

Rules on claims for these benefits are being relaxed from 2 November 2009, so that any child benefit is NOT taken into account.

This will apply regardless of the number of children!

Housing and Council Tax benefit provides financial help

towards rent and council tax payments for residents on

a low income.

If you think you may be eligible - or even if you don't -

make an application. Even if you have never claimed for

anything before, or been turned down in the past, do it

now. You have nothing to lose and in these financially

tough times, every little helps.

South Staffordshire Council can accept and assess claims right now, before the new rules come in although benefits won't be paid until November.

To find out if you could qualify:

  • call the benefits unit on 01902 696668
  • visit the Solutions Team at the Council Offices in Codsall
  • Visit the drop-in surgery at Wombourne Leisure Centre every Thursday 10am - 12noon.

As from 2nd November it will be possible to use our

on-line benefit calculator www.sstaffs.gov.uk/benefits to see if you will qualify.
