Elections in 2008
There are no scheduled elections in 2008, however casual
by-elections do occur and there details will appear below.
Nationally for the main local council elections held in May
(throughout parts of England) in 2008, average turnout was 36%
and turnout for postal voters was 71%.
Lower Penn Parish Council By-Election - 21st August 2008
By close of nominations on 25 July only one valid candidate had
come forward and they were therefore duly elected unopposed:

Great Wyrley By-Election - 14th February 2008
There are currently 5 vacancies for the Parish Council.
Four are to be filled by election on 14th February caused by recent
resignations. The other vacancy for the Town Ward is to be
filled by cooption as this is outstanding from the 3rd May

Following close of nominations as there was only one candidate
he was duly elected unopposed, Ron Myatt of 35 Hut Hill Lane, Great
Wyrley, WS6 6PB.
