Animal - fouling
Animal Fouling
South Staffordshire Council is not immune to the problems
of dog fouling. Because of the nature of the area being
predominately rural it is suspected that many people feel that they
do not have to clean up after their dog in the
countryside. This is not true.
The Council deal with the problems of fouling of the highways
and provides facilities around the district for people to dispose
of their dog waste. Dog fouling is litter and is therefore removed
as part of the Street Cleaning Programme
in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act.
Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act
1996
It is believed that the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 which
requires people to pick up after their dogs, enhances the public's
enjoyment of open areas.
All areas within South Staffordshire which are particularly
heavily used by residents and visitors, including footpaths, and
where people tend to sit, ponder and children play are covered by
the Act.
To report any incident involving dog fouling (including dog
litter bins), please contact a member of staff using the details
