Dangerous Buildings and Structures

These can present themselves in a number
of ways. Typical examples include weathered chimneys, loose roof
tiles, damaged or leaning boundary walls and fences that are at
risk of collapse, inadequately supported building works, accident
or fire damage etc.
The Council has statutory powers
to deal with dangerous buildings and structures and can send out an
engineer or a building inspector to assess the situation and decide
what course of action needs to be taken.
If you are
concerned about a particular building or structure within South
Staffordshire that you consider may be dangerous and you require
advice or help, please report the situation to the Engineering
Services Unit by contacting (01902) 696541 (between 8:45 am
and 5pm Monday to Friday)
by completing our online
Report form
In an emergency situation outside
of the above hours, you should contact your nearest available
police station for further assistance.
There are no associated costs for reporting a dangerous
structure or building.
