An important open space

brockleys walk river stour

Riverside Walk provides a peaceful environment of open grasslands and small woods along the edge of the River Stour.  The Riverside Walk open space is enclosed by a loop in the River.  There are views along the riverside across to the opposite wooded bank and along the Stour.  There are a number of pathways around the Walk which are easily accessible even for those with limited mobility.  The paths form a circular route around the site.  You will experience the contrasts of the open grassland spaces and the enclosed feeling of the wooded areas as you walk around the site.  Seats and benches are located around the site to give you the opportunity to sit and enjoy the scenery.

The open space is maintained by South Staffordshire Council.  We have adopted a variety of grass cutting methods to encourage wild flowers and the associated insects to flourish.  Bramble and scrub, which are important as cover for some wildlife species, are kept to manageable levels.  There is a variety of wildlife habitats in the Riverside Walk making it one of the important ecological reserves in Kinver.
