Civil Parking Enforcement

South
Staffordshire Council has now taken over 'yellow line'
parking regulations enforcement in the District.

Drivers with bad parking habits are being
urged to think twice about the dangers and inconvenience they can
cause now that South Staffordshire Council has taken over
parking enforcement from the Police.
The Council has now taken over parking
enforcement in the District, in a move that will help to free up
valuable police time and keep village streets clear of vehicles
parked where they shouldn’t be.
The Clear Streets campaign is a joint
undertaking with Staffordshire County Council and money collected
through issuing penalty charge notices, once costs have been
recovered, will be ploughed back into improving road safety and
transport services across the district.
Councillor Mrs Joan Williams,
(Deputy Leader) Environmental Services at South Staffordshire
Council said:
“Yellow lines are always there for a
reason. Parking on them is often dangerous and can for example
prevent emergency services from carrying out their duties
effectively. Inconsiderate parking can also block the way for
disabled people and parents with buggies.”
“These new powers will be used to
target those who contravene parking restrictions, help cut
congestion and keep South Staffordshire’s villages moving”.
