Grants and Funding for Householders

 

 

NEW Home Insulation Scheme from 1st November 2009 in partnership with E.ON!

South Staffordshire Council have teamed up with energy provider E.ON to deliver discounted home energy insulation measures. 

 

With the support of the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, South Staffordshire Council and E.ON, every home can get loft insulation for just £180 or cavity wall insulation for just £150. If you’re over 70, you can get your loft and cavity walls insulated for FREE.

Thanks to the Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service, every home is entitled to FREE Energy Efficiency advice when they receive a FREE home fire safety check. To access this service contact 0800 0241 999 to book a home fire risk check or contact the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre on 0800 512 012.

 

There are many other different grants and discounts available for energy efficiency measures that you may have heard about. Here is a brief summary of the schemes currently available.

 

Available Schemes

 

Boiler scrappage scheme

A government scheme that gives households in England £400 off the cost of a new boiler has been launched. According to the government it will help households cut their energy bills, reduce CO2 emissions and support thousands of jobs. Up to 125,000 households in England could benefit from the scheme, which is costing the government £50m. For more information click here

 

Free insulation for Over 70's

All residents over the age of 70 who own or rent their own homes qualify for free loft and cavity wall insulation.

 

This grant is open to everyone regardless of whether they are receiving benefits or not.

Warm Front Scheme

Warmfront
Are you vulnerable to the cold, disabled, elderly, or do you have children in the home? If so the Warm Front Scheme may be able to help towards the cost of energy saving measures in the home.
 
If you own your own home or rent it from a private landlord, you may be eligible for a grant of up to £3,500 (or £6,000 if oil central heating is involved) under the Warm Front Scheme.
 
To qualify for Warm Front you must be on an income related benefit, be over the age of 60 or have a child under 16 in the home. 
 
Packages now include:
 
  • Loft Insulation
  • Cavity Wall Insulation
  • Hot Water Tank Jacket
  • Draught proofing
  • Heating and Hot Water Improvements
 
 
 

Energy Wise Direct

Working with South Staffordshire Energy Advice Service, Energy Wise Direct has negotiated keen prices on items such as new energy efficient boilers, draught proofing kits, loft and cavity wall insulation, heat reflecting radiator panels and low energy light bulbs.

Utility Companies

Those who do not qualify for grant funding under Warm Front may be able to apply for a discount from their fuel supplier. Most utility companies now offer grants for cavity wall and loft insulation, but the amount of grant differs between companies. For more information contact your supplier.

 

Low Carbon Buildings Programme

The Low carbon buildings programme provides grants for microgeneration technologies for householders, community organisations, schools, the public sector and businesses. For a limited time residents can also access extra grants through the Boiler Scrappage Scheme.
