South Staffordshire Green Rewards

The Green Rewards are for organisations which demonstrate good environmental and sustainability practice. A £500 first prize is available, with two runner up prizes worth £100 each.

Last Years Winners

green rewards Friends of Essington received £500 towards a community project to improve bridges and pathways to encourage public usage of Essington Pools. The work was carried out over several weekends involving Friends of Essington volunteers plus help from local Brownies and Rainbow packs.

St Nicholas First School, Codsall received the runner up prize in recognition of the school’s early years gardening area to encourage pupils environmental awareness in their first years.

The Award

The Green Rewards is a new scheme in South Staffordshire which is in its second year. It's aim is to recognise and publicise the hard work of education, youth and community organisations that demonstrate an active commitment to good environmental practice and promote sustainable development.

Entry Criteria

All education, youth and community organisations in South Staffordshire are eligible. Entries should describe practical schemes that have been recently implemented. These might include initiatives concerning:

Green purchasing;
Waste minimisation;
Energy management;
Water saving;
Green transport;
Fair trade;
Nature conservation; and
Organic gardening.

Schemes should demonstrate good environmental or sustainability practice and provide a good example for others to follow. Schemes should also offer the opportunity for community or pupil involvement. All entries will be judged and marked according to these entry criteria, so please reflect them in your application.

How to enter

Download and complete Parts 1 and 2 of the application form available below. Entries should be submitted with additional information where appropriate (e.g. photographs, plans, reports etc). Please post, fax or email entries to:

Judging

The judging panel includes representatives from South Staffordshire Council. Closing date for entries is 1 July. Judging will take place after this date followed by an awards presentation later in the year. More information on the judging criteria can be viewed by opening Part 2 of the application form below. The judges decision is final.
