Swim School
A variety of swimming courses are offered at Wombourne
Leisure Centre, from complete beginner swimming tuition through to
advanced life saving qualifications.
All Tutors are qualified to teach in their specific subject and
participants have opportunities to gain nationally recognised
qualifications.
Please look through the list below to see if there is a course
suitable for your needs.
Little Flippers
A 6 week course for 2 - 5 year olds. Children will work through
Stanley 1 - 6 and towards 5 metre badges, preparing for
swimming lessons. This session runs during school term time
and takes place during Parent 
and Toddler sessions.
Junior Swimming Lessons
Children are set a criteria and
are assessed continuously working towards earning badges
and certificates on achieving the criteria for each level.
Children are moved up to the next group as soon as they have
met the relevant criteria. These courses run for up to 11
weeks, last 30 minutes in duration and are suitable
for children from the age of five years old.
Adult Swimming Lessons
Our adult swimming programme is for all ages and
abilities. We cater for complete beginners or for more
confident swimmers who would like to improve their stroke
techniques.
Lifesaving Course
A weekly session held every Thursday for both
adults and juniors. The course covers first aid skills, aquatic
rescue techniques and water safety. For more detailed information

National Pool Lifeguard Course
- A 1 week intensive course for
people who want to become pool lifeguards. The course teaches
Lifeguard rules, supervision, rescue techniques, and First Aid
including CPR.
- Entrants must be 16
years and over, able to swim 50 metres in under 60 seconds, surface
dive to the bottom of a 2.0 metre pool to retrieve an object and
tread water for 30 seconds.
- The course runs during school holidays, please check with the
reception for dates and times. A candidate pack is available on
request.
The next National Pool Lifeguard course is taking place
in August 2013. The cost of the week long course is £220.00 however
a non-refundable deposit is required upon booking of £60.00.

Please be aware that there are
specific dates for current customers to re-enrol and for new
