Flooding

The Council as a Category 1 responder under
the Civil Contingencies Act has to consider risks within its area
and have plans/contingencies to tackle such risks as caused by
flooding.

Environment Agency flood warning system

If you sign up for the Environment Agency’s new public flood
warning service - it will send you messages to warn you about
flooding.
There are three types of warning - Flood Alert, Flood Warning
and Severe Flood Warning.

A Flood Alert will be issued to tell you that
flooding is possible.
A Flood Warning will be used to warn you
of expected flooding and encourage you to take action to
protect yourself and your property.
A Severe Flood Warning will be used when there
is a significant risk to life or significant disruption to
communities and to follow the advice of the emergency services.
The Environment Agency currently
offer a Flood Warning Service to the communities of Coven,
Someford, Congreve, Penkridge, Acton Bridge, Wedges Mills,
Standeford and Kinver.
To check if you're at risk from flooding or to register
