Equality Impact Assessments

An equality impact assessment (EqIA) is a process designed to ensure that a policy, project or scheme does not discriminate against any disadvantaged or vulnerable people.

It is used to demonstrate we have given ‘due regard' consideration to the aims of the Public Sector Equality Duty in our decision making to:

• Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010
• Equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not; and foster good relations between people who do not
• Consider ways of mitigating or avoiding any adverse impacts
