Additional Restrictions Grant (05/01/21-31/03/21)

**This grant scheme has now been closed as funding has now been fully allocated**

The discretionary Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) enables us to support businesses that haven't had to close but have been severely impacted due to the national lockdown which came into effect on the 5 January 2021, or those which have had to close but are not the ratepayer themselves.

If your business falls into one of the following categories, the Additional Restrictions Grant may be able to provide support:

  • Businesses registered for Business Rates, while not legally forced to close, are nonetheless severely impacted by the restrictions put in place. This will include but not limited to businesses which supply the retail, hospitality, personal care and leisure sectors, or businesses in the events sector. We consider severely impacted to mean a loss of income of over 30%. Grants will be paid at the following rates:
    • £4,000 Rateable value up to £15,000
    • £6,000 Rateable value between £15,001 and £51,000
    • £9,000 Rateable value over £51,000

  • Businesses who either occupy non-domestic property (not including market traders, please see below) or are based at home and that are outside the business rates system which are forced to close by law or are severely impacted by the restrictions put in place. Businesses who will be considered for a grant will be limited to those who supply the retail, hospitality, personal care, leisure sectors or events sectors. We consider severely impacted to mean a loss of income of over 30%. The grant will be a fixed grant of £3,000.

  • Grant for Regular Market Traders - Market Traders who have a regular stall within South Staffordshire. The grant will be fixed grant of £3,000.

Funding

Funding for this scheme is limited and grants will be paid on a first come, first served basis and in line with the criteria set out above. Where the grant does not appear on Grant Approval, it is because the funding has been fully allocated and the grant scheme has been closed.

Exclusions

Local Businesses will not be eligible for a grant under the following circumstances:

  • Grants will not be paid to local businesses who are eligible for the Business Support Package payment, the grant for businesses forced to close and who are registered for business rates.
  • Businesses that have already received grant payments that equal the maximum levels of State aid permitted under the de minimis and the Covid-19 Temporary State Aid Framework.
  • Businesses that are in administration, insolvent or where a striking-off notice has been made, are not eligible for funding under this scheme.
