Several bodies have powers and duties to deal with land drainage matters, including the Environment Agency, Staffordshire County Council and ourselves.
Ordinary watercourses are the responsibility of the county council whilst the Environment Agency is responsible for main rivers.
We're mostly responsible for stretches of water which run through our land (e.g car parks and open spaces).
We provide the following service:
- giving advice or information to help deal with a variety of flooding problems.
- helping to investigate land drainage complaints where there is a serious risk of multiple property flooding.
- providing practical help where we can in a flooding situation. A limited supply of unfilled sandbags are kept at the council offices in Codsall. These can be collected on a first-come-first-serve basis.
We don't provide an out-of-hours flood response. If your property is flooding - you should call Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
