Purpose of processing
As an organisation we process the personal data that you provide when you register with my account and any subsequent information you provide via the portal for many purposes such as to respond and progress a) requests by you for a service such as a bulky waste collection or additional green bin, b) to enable you to make claims for benefits, pay for services, advise us of changes in your circumstances; set up a direct debit, view a planning application or c) to enable you to report anti-social behaviour, abandoned vehicles, breaches of planning control and other harms to the environment. We also process your data to record your historic interaction with the Council via this portal.
Our legal basis for processing your personal data will depend on the specific reasons you contacted the Council but it will be either that a) it is necessary for us to do so to perform a task carried out in the public interest/ it is the exercise of official authority vested in us or, b) it is necessary to take steps at your request prior to entering in to a contract (and to perform the same afterwards) to which you are a party or you give us your consent.
It is not possible to say to whom your information might be disclosed to other than authorised employees of the district council. Depending on the circumstances your information may be shared with councillors or people or bodies outside of this Council. This would only happen where there was a justifiable need to disclose or the law allows us to.
It depends on the reason for your contact with the Council and what happens after you make contact as to how long your information will be stored.
Your rights -in brief
If we process your personal data you may, depending on your circumstances have a right of access to it; to correct inaccurate information; to restrict our processing of it or to have your personal data erased.
