Christmas drink-drive campaign results
Released on 8 January 2018
South Staffordshire Council supported this year's annual safer driving campaign over the festive period in the district which resulted in 295 cars being stopped and the drivers breathalysed. Of these, 290 blew nil and were negative, three drivers were warned after blowing seven, 26 and 34 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath (the legal alcohol level is 35), and two drivers were positive and were arrested.
In addition, three motorists were reported for having no valid MOT, two vehicles were seized for having no insurance, and the details of one driver wanted on the police national computer (PNC) for driving offences were passed to West Midlands Police.
This campaign by South Staffordshire Local Policing Team was launched with support and funding from the Council. Following the campaign, Inspector Richard Meaden from the Local Policing Team thanked the Council personally and said that the campaign would not have achieved the full impact without the funding support.
