Council meetings - update

Released on 18 March 2020

South Staffordshire council news

In light of the current Government and Public Health England guidance, as an interim measure to protect Members, it has been determined that all non-essential, non-decision making meetings and events will be postponed at South Staffordshire Council.

It is anticipated that legislation and guidance will be issued by Central Government this week. This may provide for virtual meetings for decision-making meetings, which is not currently permissible under local government legislation. Once this is available, we will update Members and, in light of this, make decisions as to how and when future meetings will be held.

This is a rapidly developing situation and we will need to adapt and make changes as new guidelines are issued. The Council meeting scheduled to take place on Tuesday 31 March 2020 remains in the diary at the moment and we are hopeful that an alternative way of holding this meeting will be available.

From April onwards until mid-June 2020 - all non-essential Council meetings will be cancelled or postponed.

Licensing and Regulatory Committee - Thursday 19 March 2020 - cancelled.
Local Plans Member Meeting - Thursday 19 March 2020 - postponed.
Overview and Scrutiny Committee – Tuesday 24 March 2020 - cancelled.
Parish Summit - Thursday 26 March 2020 - postponed.
Your Community Challenge Panel - Monday 30 March 2020 - postponed.
