Scam Alert

Warning over text message claiming to be from the NHS Please watch out for a text message claiming to be from the NHS, which says you are eligible to apply for a vaccine and includes a link asking you to click through to apply.  The link takes you to a fake NHS website and asks you for payment and other personal details. Please be vigilant, and remember that the NHS will never ask for payment for the vaccine.  If you receive this message please do not respond or click the link. Please share this warning with elderly and vulnerable friends and family members so we can prevent as many people as possible from falling victim to this scam.

A variety of scams are happening both online and over the telephone. Fraudsters are always trying to find new ways to dupe unsuspecting residents out of their money and you can find out more on Age UK's website at

Useful tips:

  • The NHS will never ask for your details through a text message.
  • HMRC will never contact you by telephone or email, all their communication is by post.
  • COVID-19 Test and Trace callers will not need your bank details as all coronavirus tests are free.
  • If you are asked to follow a link to provide some details don't click on the link - your email or mobile/telephone provider will never email you for your financial details.
  • If you receive an email from someone you don't know and are being asked to follow a link, don' click on the link - delete the email.
  • If you think you have been a victim of a scam or a fraud, call Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or report it online at
