Damp and Mould Action Plan

In 2022, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) reminded Councils of the need to ensure a decent standard of properties for tenants in all sectors and asked each authority to prioritise this important area of work.

Living in a home affected by damp and mould has the potential to significantly affect the physical and mental health of property tenants. People with certain health conditions, children and older adults are at greater risk of more severe health problems.

As part of our work to tackle the issue of damp and mould, in particular where it relates to homes in the private rented sector, the Environmental Health and Licensing Team has produced an action plan which highlights some of the steps that the Council aim to take, both to  highlight this important matter and where necessary enable us to protect the health and wellbeing of tenants living in the district.

If you are a tenant of a rented property and have damp and/or mould in your home, that your landlord is not working to resolve, report this to us by emailing our Environmental Protection Team at EnvironmentalProtection@sstaffs.gov.uk
