There is a climate emergency, and our strategy sets out our targets in the following areas - raising awareness, strategic planning responsibilities, influencing partners and our own operations.

We plan to be zero carbon by 2050, but hope to reach that sooner. Since reporting in 2010 we have reduced our carbon footprint by 37%.

Our waste and recycling ranks in the top third of Councils in England for recycling performance. Half a tonne of waste per household per year is produced, which is below the national average. All our waste and recycling go to local facilities, either in South Staffordshire, or just over the border in Walsall, and around 11,000 tonnes of recycling is collected each year, the vast majority being processed in the UK, which helps to reduce our environmental impact.
