South Staffordshire Council is committed through the Community Leadership role to raise awareness and encourage local people, businesses, and future generations to be smarter about their energy use. Deliver services that are resource efficient, ensure council buildings and operations use low carbon energy supplies and are well prepared for the impacts of a changing climate.
The Climate Change Strategy ensures the Council meets its statutory environmental duties and looks to capture the opportunities and benefits of tackling climate change. These include savings on energy bills, encouraging renewable energy in the transition to a low carbon economy, strengthening business competitiveness, reducing flood risks, and managing the impacts of extreme weather.
South Staffordshire Council's Climate Change Strategy recognises that our local contribution is part of a wider challenge that involves managing our budgets within available resources as well as influencing and working with partners, and is part of a national and global agenda.
