We have up to date information on the latest grants and government schemes and can check your eligibility for discounted measures. We offer a safe and easy route to a trusted and reputable installer.

Now available:

Boilers must be broken and at least 8 years old. For home owners or private tenants. (Eligibility criteria applies including certain welfare benefits).
  • Help with winter heating bills. You could get money off your fuel bill if you are getting the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (even if you get Savings Credit as well) guaranteed pension credit or some other benefits.

*Funding is subject to survey and is unlikely to fund the complete works. These offers may vary. Please contact our Energy Advice Line to clarify the offer that is presently available and to check that you qualify.

This is not an exhaustive list of opportunities, and the Council recommends that you select a provider that is most suitable for your needs. The Council are aware of these opportunities through work with our partners Marches Energy Agency who have procured these offers. The Council has not vetted these providers and cannot be held responsible or liable for any problems that you may experience with the company you choose to go with.

News!

Rented homes must meet basic energy efficiency ratings

Do you live in a rented home? Did you struggle with high heating bills and warmth over the winter? Did you know that there are new laws to ensure that landlords ensure that homes meet basic energy efficiency requirements? Under new legislation, landlords cannot grant new leases to property with an Energy Performance rating of below an ‘E', and from April 2020 all rented properties must achieve the higher standard. Warmer Homes South Staffs can advise landlords or tenants about the measures and grants available: that's good news for tenants and landlords.

Proposal to cut funding for loft and cavity wall insulation – act now!

The Government is proposing to cut funding for loft and cavity wall insulation – meaning grants for most householders will be a thing of the past. Whilst we are expecting funding will continue for low income households, “subsidies for all" are likely to cease in the next few months. Warmer Homes South Staffs can conduct an assessment over the phone and put you in touch with one of our accredited and trusted installers in order for the works to be completed.

Warmer weather is the best time to give your heating system an overhaul!

If your heating struggled to cope with persistent cold, and left you with a big bill to boot, don't leave it until the Autumn to get it sorted. Many contractors will offer a reduced priced service over the summer months, and you could get a grant towards the cost of a heating replacement or upgrade. With Warmer Homes South Staffs ‘Help to Heat' scheme, if you are on a low income with limited savings, you could get a grant – even if you are not in receipt of benefits.

Residents of Hinksford Mobile Home Park benefit from free energy efficiency measures thanks to Age UK

Warmer Homes South Staffs carried out 25 free Home Energy Checks for residents of Hinksford Mobile Home Park, funded by Age UK. Many retired householders at Hinksford struggle with high energy bills and inefficient homes. The visits were carried out by South Staffs Warmer Homes and tackled a range of problems including billing issues, expensive lighting and draughty doors and windows. Over 100 power-guzzling incandescent lightbulbs were replaced with efficient LEDs, and 40 reflective radiator panels fitted – helping householders cut their expensive electricity bills. One couple will save nearly £1,000 on their electricity bill over the next year thanks to help changing to a cheaper supplier! A couple in their 80s, were delighted to have some help to programme their heating system, as well as draught proofing, 9 new LEDs and 4 reflective radiator panels.
