To help you apply, you will need to gather supporting information including:
- Copies of your driving licence, passport or birth certificate.
- Citizenship and/or immigration status.
- Evidence of local connection - for example your 5-year address history or evidence of links to adult relatives who live locally.
- Copies of your most recent three bank statements for each account held.
- Statements from any savings accounts you hold.
- Evidence of your income (for example wage slips or Universal Credit statements).
- Evidence of any benefits you receive (for example DWP award letters).
- Evidence of your National Insurance number (this could be your NI letter, on your wage slips or UC award letters).
- If you are facing homelessness, a Section 21 (6a) notice, or notice to leave.
- Rent statements.
- Crime numbers.
- If your housing need is for medical reasons, a letter from a medical professional confirming your condition and how this is being impacted by your housing situation and their recommendations for your accommodation.
- Supporting information from other agencies that are helping you.
- Birth certificates and proof of child benefit for any children.
- If you are also homeless and in priority need, you may need to provide priority need evidence.
The above list is not exhaustive and our team will guide you through the evidence you need to provide and explain why - we will also give advice and guidance on how to gather the evidence where possible.
Please do what you can do to provide the information as soon as possible, as the sooner you get it to us, the sooner we can help you.
Once your application is submitted
As soon as you have uploaded all the necessary evidence, we will aim to assess your application within 10 working days and let you know if you are eligible to join the housing register and explain how to bid.
If you don't upload all the necessary evidence within 28 days, your application will be cancelled and you will have to apply again.
