The Housing and Homelessness Strategy for South Staffordshire was adopted by the council on December 20th 2022. Over the period 2023-2027, the strategy seeks to ensure that everyone in South Staffordshire is able to afford a home that is suitable for them, whether it be on the open market, or through a local Registered Provider. Housing and Homelessness Strategy 2023-2027 An update to the strategy has provided the opportunity to recognise the important role of the district’s housing stock in the environment, and more specifically, the climate change agenda. The Strategy focuses on four priorities: Ensure the right types of housing are provided in the right locations to meet local need Strengthen the role of both the district’s existing and new housing stock in addressing the Climate Change Emergency Adapt existing homes and futureproof new homes to positively contribute to the health, wellbeing and independence of residents Prevent and alleviate homelessness A draft strategy was subject to public consultation in September/October 2022. All responses were carefully considered. A summary of responses and the Council’s comments is available below.
