Walking for Health

health walks

The Walking for Health scheme provides a programme of weekly walks which are free of charge and take place across the district. All walks are led by one of our trained walk-leader volunteers.

All of the walks vary in length and difficulty with routes suitable for all fitness levels.

If you have never attended one of our Health Walks, please contact the relevant walk leader before turning up to your first walk.

All new walkers will be required to complete a short registration form prior to your first walk.

  • Grade 1 walks - They are up to 30 minutes on flat ground or with gentle slopes, with mainly firm surfaces and no steps or stiles.
  • Grade 2 walks - They are between 30-60 minutes and may include some moderate slopes, steps, uneven surfaces and possibly stiles.
  • Grade 3 walks - They are 45-90 minutes and may include steeper slopes, steps, uneven surfaces and stiles.
  • Progressive Walks - Usually more than 90 minutes in duration and likely to include slopes, steps, stiles and uneven surfaces.
