Are you looking to do any cosmetic treatments?

.

What type of activities needs to be registered?

If the skin is pierced using needles and you do any of the following in South Staffordshire, then by law you will need to be registered:

  • Electrolysis
  • Ear / Body Piercing
  • Micro-blading
  • Micro-pigmentation
  • Any semi-permanent skin colouring
  • Acupuncture

Who and what needs to be registered?

This means both the premises and the persons doing the activity will need to be registered.

Application Form, Fees and Standard Conditions

The following fees apply:

  • £202.00 to register the premises (if not previously registered for ear-piercing, skin piercing, electrolysis, acupuncture, micro-blading and tattooing, semi-permanent skin colouring), plus £141 to register the individual practitioner/artist (Total fee payable £343)

Standard Conditions / Guidance Notes

There is a toolkit which will help you

What happens after I apply?

You will get a visit from one of the officers to see how you will comply with the law and standard conditions. If everything is ok, you will be given a registration certificate. You will then be expected to comply with the standard conditions.

What if you are not registered?

It is an offence if you do any of these activities without being and /or, do not comply with the standard conditions.

Is there anything I need to be aware of?

If you are thinking of changing the use of the premises or building additional facilities, you may need approval under the Town and Country Planning Acts and/or Building Regulations. If that is the case, you will need to contact Planning or Building Control (where?) for that advice.
