Taxi Enforcement

The Council's Licensing Enforcement Officers ensure that both legislation and the Councils Taxi and Private Hire Licensing Policy are complied with by licensed holders.

Officers can take action against licence holders for breaches of licence conditions and/or other offences.

Licence holders caught breaching conditions or breaking the law or behaving in an unacceptable manner may also be reported to the Licensing and Regulatory Committee who may suspend or revoke their licence.

Enforcement action will be taken in accordance with the Council's Taxi and Private Hire Licensing Policy and the Enforcement Policy.

Licensing Enforcement Officers investigate complaints from members of the public, drivers and other agencies. Vehicle stop checks are also conducted with other enforcement agencies such as the Police, Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), Inland Revenue and Benefits, and other local authorities.
