Taxi & Private Hire Vehicle Licensing
Taxi and Private Hire licensing within South Staffordshire is administrated on behalf of the Council by the City of Wolverhampton Council's Licensing team from April 2022.
By law all Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Vehicles and the drivers of such vehicles must be licensed before they can be used for business. Private Hire Operators must also be licensed.
The Council's main objective regarding taxi and private licensing are:
- Safety and health of drivers and the public;
- High standards of vehicle safety, comfort and access;
- Prevention of crime and disorder and the protection of consumers; and
- Equality and accessibility in service provision
