A message from your Council Leader on Local Government Reorganisation
Hello all,
As someone who has lived in South Staffordshire all my life, I care deeply about our communities, from our villages to the services that support us every day. I’m writing to you not just as your Council Leader, but as a neighbour who wants the very best for our district’s future.
This video helps to outline the plans for Local Government Reorganisation. The key message is that we need to hear from you on your priorities and preferences via our online survey. The deadline to complete the survey is 11:59pm on Monday 1st September.
Right now, we have a unique opportunity to influence how local services are delivered across Staffordshire. Together with five neighbouring councils, we’re exploring Local Government Reorganisation which will replace the current two-tier system with a single council responsible for all local services.
Two options are being considered for Southern and Mid Staffordshire:
• One council covering all six areas
• Two smaller councils covering (1) South Staffordshire, Stafford and Cannock and (2) East Staffordshire, Lichfield and Tamworth
But before any decisions are made, we need to hear from you.
