South Staffordshire Council is proud to shine a spotlight on its expanding suite of programmes aimed at building a brighter, more resilient future for residents, communities, and businesses across the district.

These programmes, funded the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), collectively represent South Staffordshire Council’s vision for a vibrant, inclusive future.

Through strategic use of the UKSPF and REPF, the council is not just funding projects - it’s fostering long-term opportunity and resilience across all corners of the district.

Annette Roberts, Corporate Director of Place and Communities, said: "Building on the success of our previous UKSPF initiatives, this funding enables us to deliver impactful projects that boost local businesses, build skills, and improve shared spaces.

“Our focus remains on creating a vibrant, inclusive district where both communities and enterprises can thrive."

Backing business success with Strive and Start-Up Support

At the heart of the council’s business-focused initiatives is the Strive for Success programme, designed to support established businesses that have been trading for over two years.

Delivered in partnership with expert providers, the programme offers tailored training, mentoring, and access to grant funding of up to £7,000 to help businesses scale, innovate, and overcome growth challenges.

Strive for Success is about building resilience and unlocking long-term economic potential within South Staffordshire’s business community.

Complementing this is a comprehensive Business Start-Up Support offer: Start in South Staffs, delivered in partnership with expert providers giving fledgling entrepreneurs access to 1:1 advice, workshops, and guidance tailored to the local economic landscape.

These programmes reflect the council’s commitment to nurturing a dynamic and diverse local economy.

Enhancing communities through the UKSPF Community Fund

South Staffordshire’s UKSPF Community Fund aims to invest in local projects that strengthen community cohesion and improve quality of life.

From funding improvements to village halls and community centres, to supporting grassroots organisations delivering vital local services, the fund ensures that prosperity is shared at a neighbourhood level.

Organisations across the district are encouraged to use this support to enhance social spaces, improve accessibility, and deliver cultural and wellbeing initiatives that bring people together and create a sense of pride in place.

Boosting the rural economy with REPF

Rural communities are a vital part of South Staffordshire’s identity, and the Rural England Prosperity Fund is driving investment into these areas through capital grants.

The fund supports rural businesses in developing products, accessing new markets, and enhancing their infrastructure.

It also helps improve local community facilities, ensuring that South Staffordshire’s rural heartlands thrive alongside its towns and villages.

Creating Brighter Futures for all

Underpinning these economic and community development efforts is the Creating Brighter Futures programme, aimed at supporting residents facing barriers to employment or financial stability.

This initiative helps individuals build skills, confidence, and connections - whether through digital training, wellbeing support, or pathways into education and work.

By aligning with the wider objectives of the UKSPF, this programme ensures that no one is left behind as South Staffordshire grows and evolves.
