Interactive Local Plan Map
We have introduced a new way to view Local Plan policies online. You can zoom in and out and see what policies affect the whole of the district. You can also see areas of open space, and sites that have been suggested to us for development in our Strategic Housing & Economic Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA*).
Once you have activated the mapping you can:
- Use the plus/minus button to zoom in and out
- Use the search bar at the top left to look for an address or area
- Move the map with your pointer/mouse
When the mapping launches many layers will be displayed.
- To see the key for the different designations on the top right of the screen use this icon
- To add or remove layers click on this icon
The Local Plan policies relate to the current adopted Local Plan and will not change until a new Local Plan is in place. However, other designations may be updated as and when new information is available.

*Sites suggested to us are recorded in the SHELAA but it does not mean that the Council thinks the sites are suitable for development. sites will only be allocated through the Local plan review.
The Strategic Planning Team manages and maintains a register of persons who have an interest in local planning documents (Local Plan Database); those who wish to register land for future development on our Self and Custom Build Register and/or Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA); and regarding Empty Properties. In order to do this in an effective way we will need to collect and use personal information about you. For more information about how we process this data see Strategic Planning Team - Data Protection.
