Permitted Development

(Work that does not require planning permission)

You can carry out certain types of work without needing to apply for planning permission. This is called 'permitted development' (PD).

For more information on PD rights, please visit the Planning Portal website.

Does my property benefit from Permitted Development?

The council may have removed some of your Permitted Development rights. This would either be by an Article 4 Direction or listed within the conditions of previous planning decisions.

If you are unsure if PD rights have been removed, the council can carry out a planning history check for you for a fee of £15.

Alternatively, depending on your proposal, you can submit a householder enquiry or pre application for planning advice. The council will look back at previous planning history as well as giving you planning advice.
