South Staffordshire Council is consulting with business and premises owners on recent permissive powers known as high street rental auctions. The consulation runs until 4th September 2025
High street rental auctions have been developed by government to help local authorities tackle the issues of long-term vacant premises in town centres.
The proposal to designate these areas as village centres for the purposes of the above legislation have been developed to assist in the improvement and regeneration of high streets in the noted areas.
South Staffordshire Council may seek to exercise the right to pursue a high street rental auction procedure on a commercial property or properties in the future, in line with government guidance which is documented here:

South Staffordshire Council has designated, through the Local Plan, village centres for the following areas.
