I am unemployed, what help can you provide?

We are working in partnership with many local and national employers, training and education providers, volunteering organisations and the DWP to provide support.

  • We can provide funding for functional skills, Level 1 & 2 courses and some vocational training courses.
  • Our experienced Caseworkers can provide support to create or update your CV.
  • We can help you prepare responses for interview questions and facilitate a mock interview scenario to improve your preparation.
  • We understand the skills that local employers are seeking, and can work with you to develop a plan for you to achieve these

I don't have any qualifications, how can you help?

We work with many training providers and colleges, offering courses face to face and online.

The courses range from basic skills, to level 1 and 2 in a range of subjects incuding English and Maths. We can provide funding but also through our partnership we can source other forms of educational support that may be available.

We are working with local employers to understand what skills they need their employees to have and we can support you to become work ready.

A Caseworker will be allocated to you on a 1-2-1 basis, providing advice and support throughout your learning journey, if you need it.

Some of the courses we have funded are;

  • Life Guarding and Swimming Teacher Instruction
  • First Aid
  • Health and Safety Level 1 & 2
  • Introduction to Construction
  • Customer Services Level 2
  • Digital Skills & Online Safety

If you have an idea of training you would like, get in touch on 01902 696228 or email peopleandskills@sstaffs.gov.uk

I have not worked for a long time, how can you help?

As part of the introduction to our programme we will;

  • Help you identify your barriers to work and overcome them
  • Source basic, life and career skills courses
  • Increase your digital knowledge and advice how to be safe online

We will work with you to develop a pathway to support you to move closer to work.

We can arrange work experience so you are comfortable with the expectations of employers, and provide advice around the Welfare Benefits system and how your benefits will be affected by earnings.
