Bulky household waste collections

This is a service for the disposal of large items of household waste, such as furniture and appliances.

What does it cost?

We can collect a maximum of nine items per collection. 

  • One to three items = £48
  • Four to six items = £78
  • Seven to nine items = £108

When will my items be collected?

You will be offered a choice of two collection dates at the time of booking.  

Where should I leave my items to be collected? 

Items must be outside of your property before 7am on the day of your booking.

Leave items clearly presented at the front of your property and please ensure nothing is blocking access to the items. 

We are unable to enter your property, garage, or any outbuildings to carry out a bulky waste collection.

Bulky Waste Terms and Conditions

  • Present items before 7am 
  • Leave items clearly presented at the front of your property 
  • Cancellations can be made before 11am the day before collection is due 
  • We will only collect items booked for collection 
  • The maximum dimensions of any single item are 1.83 metres (6 foot) x 1.23 metres (4 foot) and the items must be manageable by two persons. Glass will not be accepted.

What you will need to do

  • Please note that if you place an order for collection then you are deemed to have accepted these conditions. If you have any questions about the conditions please telephone 01902 696203 before making a request. 
  • This service is for bulky household waste only: commercial and industrial waste will not be accepted. If when we attend we establish that the items are from a commercial premises we will not remove the items and no refund will be given. 
  • Items must be at your collection point outside of your property by no later than 7am on the day of collection: please note that this day may be different to your usual bin collection day. 
  • Your item(s) must be accessible on the day of collection: there should be no obstructions that would prevent the crew from collecting and loading onto the vehicle the bulky item(s). 
  • Items must be left in such a way so as not to obstruct the highway. 
  • Only the item type and numbers stated at the time of booking will be collected. 
  • The maximum dimensions of any single item are six foot (1.83 metres) x four foot (1.23 metres) and the items must be manageable by two persons 
  • Service cancellations must be made by (11am) the working day prior to your scheduled collection day. 

What we will not do

  • We will not collect certain items such as concrete, liquids (e.g. petrol, oil, paint), hazardous waste (e.g. infectious healthcare waste, fluorescent tubes), asbestos, bagged household waste (including garden waste) and waste arising from household construction work (e.g. tiles, plaster rubble) or glass. 
  • We cannot specify a time of collection. Crews have until 5pm to complete your bulky waste collection: please do not report a missed collection until after this time. 
  • Crews will not collect items from inside properties, garages or outbuildings (e.g. sheds).

About the data you will provide in this form

You will be asked to enter your name, address and contact details as part of this online form. This is classed as your personal data. We will use the data that you provide to deliver the bulky waste collection.

How we will use your data

The law allows us to use your personal data to enter into a contract with you to deliver a bulky waste collection and to send to you relevant service messages.

Will we share your data?

The data you provide in the form will be stored in our My Login system. Our Waste Management and Customer Support team will have access to the data you provide to deliver the service you have asked for and respond to any queries that you may have. In order to facilitate the service we will share with our contractors, Biffa Municipal Ltd, your address, a list of requested for collection and any specific location details you have provided. It may also be shared with our health and safety, insurance, legal and finance teams as necessary in connection with our lawful basis or as required by law.

How long will we store your data?

We will keep your personal data for as long as is necessary to deliver the service you have asked for, and for up to seven years after the service is carried out. After this time it will be deleted from our systems. If you have set up an account in My Login, your data will be stored until you ask us to close-down your account on your behalf.

Your rights in brief

You have the following rights: a right of access to your information, a right to correct inaccurate information, a right to restrict our processing of your data, and a right to have your personal data erased. If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact our data protection officer at dpo@sstaffs.gov.uk. Please note that the council will not be able to provide the service to you if your data is erased.
