Shrub Pruning & Hedge Cutting

We carry out sightline pruning during May and June each year and the annual prune which takes around five months to complete is carried out between October and February. Hedge cutting is carried out in the autumn, after the bird nesting season. More details on each of these operations can be found below.

Annual Pruning

The annual prune commences in October and takes five months to complete. As well as undertaking work as detailed within sightline pruning, the annual prune includes reducing shrubs in height for the purpose of building a strong framework, maintaining shape and balance thus keeping shrubs healthy and vigorous, so producing the maximum amount of flowering wood. Arisings are either removed or chipped back into the shrub bed to act as a mulch.
