You may be eligible
Based on the answers you have given, you may be eligible for social housing in the district if you have a housing need.
Do I have a housing need?
When you apply we will ask you for information that will help us to work out if you have housing need.
For example we'll look at whether you are living in a house that's too big (too many bedrooms) or too small (too few bedrooms), whether you can afford to live in your current home (through an income and expenditure assessment), whether you have medical needs that mean you need to move to more suitable accommodation and more.
If you do not have a housing need (as defined by our Housing Allocations Policy), you will not be eligible to join the register.
About applying
To apply you will first need to set up an account on our Housing Jigsaw system and fill in your profile. Once you have saved your profile you will then be able to fill in your housing application.
You will need things like your national insurance number, housing address history (for at least the last five years), your current address and evidence of any medical conditions that relate to your housing need to hand.
Based on your application we will then contact you through your housing jigsaw account to let you know the next steps.
How long will could I wait for a home?
Please be aware that there is limited social housing in the district and even if you are eligible to join the housing register, waiting times for social housing vary considerably (between 315 days for a one bedroom apartment and 560 days for a three bedroom home) and depend on your priority band, how many bedrooms you need, and what areas you are happy to live in.
